The system is version 10.3.9. Is it possible to upgrade to 10.4? If so, where can I get a disk? I'd like to keep using this computer and am concerned that soon it will not be supported. This is a 600 MHz Power PC G3, with 384 MB SDRAM.

it will not perform well as you just meet the requirements. IMnsHO you'd be better sticking that money away towards a newer model laptop (macbook).
Unless you have software or hardware that will only run in 10.4x you'd be better staying just as you are while saving for an upgrade.
If you want to disregard this advice try ebay or craigslist.
