Jack issues after multiple repairs

Edit to focus on the jack issue

Summary:

Repairs successfully done:

- battery

- a power button/volume/mute flex ribbon (first one didn't work - second one ok)

- a new home button ribbon

New issue: jack no longer works at all

Tried to replace jack and lightning dock. Everything works again as expected but this did not fix the jack issue. What else could be doing this?

Previous title: vibrator and jack issues after multiple repairs

Previous post:

Hi all,

Yesterday, I installed on my iphone 5 a new battery, a power button/volume/mute flex ribbon and a new home button ribbon.

I took my time and put everything back together. The phone booted right up, all buttons worked and the battery charged.

Today, I noticed two issues:

- my vibrator no longer manages to do impulses: it's either off or fully on.

- my jack no longer works. When I plug something, music continues on the speakers and nothing is routed to the jack.

I've opened a few times after that, checking all my work. I'm clueless. Any ideas?

Thanks

I tried a factory reset: no improvement whatsoever.

Vibrator issue solved by fitting another new power button/volume/mute flex ribbon.

Jack issue was not fixed by a new jack and lightning dock

Chosen Solution

The first one seems somewhat simple. The cable you used to replace, isn't working properly, and is causing your vibrator motor to be constant in one mode. The second makes sense, but not really. I'm guessing you've damaged something on your lightning dock, and now you can't use your headphones

I was afraid of that.

My vendor is sending me a new power button/volume/mute flex ribbon. I'll install it when I get it and we'll see.

As for the jack, that seems possible, but I really didn't touch that area much... Just unplugged the cable to set the motherboard free...

I'll sort out the vibrator first, and see about the jack after.

Thanks

Yeah, that's why it doesn't really make sense. That part doesn't get touched. But, it's a likely answer

I installed the new power button/volume/mute flex ribbon: success! the vibrator works again as expected.

The jack is still broken. I'm ordering a new lightning dock.
