Safari is not pulling up a window yet shows it's running. Help!

My MacBook pro 17" now is not pulling up a window yet it is showing that it is indeed running. My daughter recently used it and while I cannot see anything I am wondering if she did something to it. I am wondering if this happends sometimes or if it is something else I need to look into? It is not under warranty any more so I am trying to cut costs by asking here. Any help would be appreciated,,Thank you!

Maybe I read your question incorrectly. Are you getting anything on the screen? If you haven't restarted the unit, it may just be that she closed out the window without quitting the program. If Safari is showing in the upper left hand corner as "open", go to file and go to "Open window".

Under Safari

pull down to "reset safari" you will lose your bookmarks and history so back that up before you reset.

I find that even though I have closed all Safari windows, it is still showing as running in the background.

I find if I right click (with a mouse) or use two fingers on the track pad and click the Safari logo (the one that's showing as open) I can select quit. Also I think using the CMD+Q shortcut works.
