really weird magsafe power issues - PLEASE HELP!

I"m working on a macbook pro a1226 model and I'm having some really weird power issues.

It will only turn on from battery power, and when it is turned on from battery power and plugged in, I see the little lightning bolt symbol on the battery in the status bar, and it says the computer is running off of the power source and the battery is not charging.

However, my battery doesn't charge, and when I remove the battery the computer won't power up from the magsafe adapter alone.

Also, there is no green light on the magsafe at any time

When I check the "system profile" and go down to the "power" section, it shows that an AC adapter is plugged in, but it gives no further information about the power adapter.

all the numbers are just 000000

Here's what i've done to troubleshoot:

1. checked power source: the charger works when plugged into another a1226 MBP

2. cleaned the power port on computer with rubbing alcohol to remove debris

3. SMC reset

4. pram reset

5. swapped hard drives and reinstalled OSx

6. I'm about to swap logic boards to see if there may be an issue there, and will let you know.

If you have any other suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!
