my phone screen is black and whenever I press the home button it doesn't light up. whenever I put my charger in it it then vibrates which indicates that the phone is still working. I also switched my phone onto silent mode which also makes it vibrate. i've tried so many things and nothing has worked yet, please help me!!!

I don't even think that... A restore will solve this problem. I really think you need to have that power button replaced

Is this after a screen repair? Or did it just happen?
It seems to be an LCD cable being disconnected if the screen is just black and the phone still functions.

this has happened to me before and the person who fixed it replaced the battery. I've also taken the back off of my phone and everything seems fine so I don't know what's wrong with it. @tragedon
You took the back off? There is not removable back on the iPhone 5.
What is the model number of your phone? Any details on the back of it?

I took the back off the phone and everything seemed fine. I think I will just have to get the battery changed as that's what had to happen last time. Do you know any ways of solving this problem? @tragedon
