Some keys still not working after replacement

So I went through the laborious process of replacing the keyboard on my wife's MBP. It was given to her, so we don't know any history. Wanted to replace it since some keys worked normal while others typed in hyper speed, hit the key once and get multiple outputs.

Got everything apart with no issue, looks like the previous owner thought the MBP needed a Coke. There was all kinds of staining between the keyboard and the aluminum top case. Cleaned it up as best as I could and put the new keyboard in I got from Amazon. Powered it up and keys type normal (no hyper speed outputs), but the Apple functions of F1-F9 don't work. Can't change brightness of screen or keyboard, can't bring up Launchpad, can't use Rewind Play/Pause or FFwd, but all volume function keys work.

Anyone have any thoughts? I didn't think to verify if they did or did not work before I changed the keyboard out. I did struggle with getting the ribbon cable in, but I figure since everything else is working on the keyboard I might be looking at a dying logic board.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Take a good look at the keyboard ribbon cable did you put a kink in it , tear or bend corners if the old one is in good physical shape since you just slid it out , try comparing it to the one you ordered.

It is probably the new keyboard you got. It is either defective or you damaged the connector as you put it in. Try getting another one if, after observing it, you see a damaged ribbon connector or cable.
