I shattered my glass on my phone. Whenever i get a call it rings and Shows the lights up on top and the touch down below but its pure black in the middle. Do I need a LCD digitizer? I forsure need to replace the glass screen but I wanted to see if I have to replace the LCD also?

If the screen stays black when ringing I would imagine you need a new digitizer

If all other things work well except the black screen, then your LCD screen must be broken and you need to replace it. The LCD screen, digitizer and front glass are already bonded together by strong adhesive, so it is difficult to replace neither of them just by DIY repair work without speciall tools and professiona skills. If you want to repair it by yourself, you'd better buy the new Samsung Note 4 screen assembly like this :

But if you want replace only one of them, you should send it to the repair shop for help. Here is how replace the Note 4 LCD screen with digitizer assembly:
