SWAPPING THE MOTHERBOARD to a different model.

Hi,

I had some water damage to my keyboard from spilled coffee. In the process of taking things apart multiple times I broke the pins on input power to one of the fans. So now I need a new motherboard. Except for this model it costs almost 600 bucks in multiple places online. I found a cheaper mother board for 200. Is an upgrade possible?

The original motherboard is emc2556.

The new one would be 661-5089

Link to the new one is

and the spec list for my computer is

http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ma...

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks,

You just broke the fan connections? , and you want to replace the whole motherboard......that's wild. Upload a picture so I can help you , soldering fan connectors is actually not that hard they can also be soldered -wiring direct- to the pads if needed, the actual connectors can be bought for 5 bucks.

Does it still power on with the 1 fan?

Chosen Solution

Take it to an old technician and have the fan connector soldered on. This should cost under $25.00. It does not matter if it is a Mac or PC tech.
