For no apparent reason my laptop started to go too slow and the fans don't stop, I take it to an Apple Retail Store in Dominican Republic and the told me that the problem is with the logic card, the charge is 1,400 dollars. Is any chance to fix the logic board or should replace it ?

I just repaired a Mac & iPhone that went through the D,R, store, what poor service. First, you are getting taken. Apple offers a "Flat Rate repair service", that costs $375 including tax and shipping and will repair anything and everything that is wrong with it if it has not been water damaged or physically abused. I am about to sent the identical 2012 machine in that came in from Saudia Arabia for the same issue. I believe this is a factory defect. Mine is way overheating with the fans running. If you do send it in and there is later a class action suit on this Apple will refund your expenses. Maybe the Genius was not aware of this service. After all the Geniuses have had 14 days of training and sometimes do not remember it all. Call Apple and ask.
