How do know for sure if my video card is broken?

I have a 2006 mac pro and I think the video card is broken. The computer fans spin but I don't get a signal on the monitor? Is the video card broken? What can I buy for replacement?

What are the diagnostic lights telling you?

It's an very old card , the computer used to be working fine but I don't get a signal anymore. When I turn on the Mac the fans start spinning the hard drives make a normal sound, there is a light on the motherboard that indicates that the cpu's and the ram are working. The only thing left is the videocard.

Yes, I do. It makes an sound when I press the start button.
