Home button and microphone don't work but touch ID does?

Couple of days ago I opened up my phone to clean the camera because there was a lot of dust in front of the lens and it was making pictures look weird. I was really careful when opening but for some reason my home button and mic don't work anymore. However, touch ID still works fine. But having no mic on a phone kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing... I read that people are advising to look for the black knob and I did. Its still there and sticking out like it should. I also tried removing the cable and putting it back multiple times with restarts of my phone but nothing happens. I don't really mind the home button because I can just use assistive touch but it's still a little more convenient to just use the button itself. Last thing I read was something about FL5 but I can't find anything about it so I gave up on that one. If you want me to post pictures just ask i'd really like this fixed.

Not sure if this will work, but it's a lot different than just restarting the phone. Try disconnecting the home button cable, the lightning dock cable, and the battery. Then go in reverse

Do you mean unplugging them while the phone is still turned on? And is the lightning dock cable the one next to the battery connector? (I would like it if I don't have to take the whole thing apart :D)

Believe you me, that's not taking the whole thing apart. Yes, just disconnect those, see if that solves the problem. Otherwise you damaged something, while "fixing" your camera lens. Which probably means you need a new lightning dock

Thanks, I'll try that!

I haven't been able to try what you suggested since I didn't have a lot of time this week. But I did notice my headphone jack is also not working properly. When plugged in around half way the sound is normal but once pushed in completely I get a crackling noise. Would this mean I have a problem with my dock or could this also be a broken connection?

Sounds like a broken lightning dock
