Part of display half of iPhone snapped...

I tried the replacement battery, but nothing, not even an apple logo, lit up after I charged it, so I tried to open it up... and the suction cup kept slipping, so I pulled it a bit harder and the sides started to open, and pried it up with the plastic pryer. The screen came off, expect a small area of the top half (on the area beneath the battery) snapped off. Its the area underneath the battery but next to the home button/charging port, now nothing works...

I guess the top part got jammed, now the iPhone is broken I assume... sigh.

Is the part that snapped off really mandatory? It doesnt look too important, just a black corner with some metal lines on it. It is located on top of the area beneath the battery and to the left of the home button, located on the top half (the part pulled off with a suction cup.) Any ideas on what to do? :(

Answer this question I have this problem too

My guess is that you just broke the screen bezel and not the screen. Show us some pictures. Step one is to see if iTunes can detect the phone. Connect battery and plug it in to see. You can leave the screen off for this.
