usb not not recognized on any computer

I am sure i have a hardware issue. The phone charges but is not recognized on any computer with any cable. Is there a way to test or check that there is no hardware issue on the usb port?

Make sure you go into your android settings and you can make your device a media transfer device or a mass storage device

I asked my question here since i am pretty sure that it is a hardware issue. All the known software issues I have tried

Sorry about that! I think that port is soldered directly to the board. You could always try a different one!

I am having the exact same issue. I've submitted my concern to Google in the support page for "Android File Transfer." Anyway they emailed suggested steps to try and they are pretty much the same as what everyone else suggests. I'm pretty sure now that it is a hardware issue with my Nexus 5X. At this point I'm trying to figure out how to send back to Google for warranty claim or repairs.

When I go to settings - Connected Devices the USB option is greyed out and "Not Connected" indicated even when connected by USB to a Computer. Is there a way to turn it on???
