I cracked the inside of my I pad mini

Ok, so I dropped my I pad mini. And I broke the inside of the screen cause there is a hardly noticeable green line at the corner of the I pad, and there are no cracks in the outside. I also have this grayish bar on the side of my I pad that sometimes changes colors, which is making the lighting of my I pad really dim and I can hardly see. Other than that the Ipad still works fine. How do I fix this, do I need to take apart the I pad mini? I have tried resetting it, and restoring it but they both do not work.

Answer this question I have this problem too

It's sounds like your LCD might be damaged. You would have to take the screen off to replace the LCD, with the iPad mini. I would try very hard to not damage the glass or digitizer so you can reuse it, many cheap after market screens with silver edges will only cause you problems. Also disconnect the battery and when doing that make sure you disconnect from the battery side if you go from the other side you will damage the back light fuse. Check out website from iPad rehab they have a great guide for you to follow.

Some people stated that hitting the I pad on a hard surface might help, is that true?

If the screen is cracked, then it can be replaced. Yes, it does need to be taken apart.

There are lots of helpful guides and walkthroughs on this site to help you do this.

So I can fix this problem by myself?

Is it the touch screen's problem or is it the inside of the I pad that needs repairing?

by

It is something you can do yourself. If you're getting brightness issues too, the LCD probably needs to be replaced as well.

I believe you can get a replacement screen which includes all three parts together; LCD, digitizer and glass panel. And to make things easier, you can also get one that has the camera and home button already attached. If you got this, it'd be a simple task of swapping the two screens, old and new. Minimal disassembly.

Are you sure I didn't break any wires

My iPad fell out of the case when I was walking and it cracked the left side corner close to the home button. What I'm worried about is that it left a small hole where I can see the hollow part of the iPad... Please HELP!! Can it be replaced? Is it cheap?!

It can be fixed relatively easily but only if and only if it is an iPad 2,3,4, mini 1 or mini 2, or Air 1. All models after that are difficult to repair because of Touch ID and such. The hollow part is just the inside of the frame of the iPad.

You can get it replaced. Or, you can get the screen replaced by opening it, and you can back up your data, and clean out the iPad like you just bought it from the store. Put your data back on the iPad.
