How do I reattach the capacitor board to get touch capability?

My magic mouse came apart after dropping it. I put it back together and I am able to point and click with it, but I lost the "magic" touch capability for scrolling, etc. I think it's because the orange tab that is part of the capacitive touch sensors isn't connected to the circuit board in the mouse. Can someone tell me how to re-attach it properly? It would be MUCH appreciated... :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

This is probably the most difficult procedures for repairing the Magic Mouse. The reason isn't so much because it is difficult technically. The Ribbon cable just slides in to the attaching point. The problem is it is in a odd position with little room to hold the cable. You will need a small thin set of needle nose pliers or hemostats. Attach the hemostats to the ribbon cable near the middle of the cable (enough to hold the cable stiff. Align the cable with the slot and try to push the cable in. Once it is in be careful not to pull it out again. Put the mouse back together and it should work fine. Follow the instructions in ifixit Magic mouse tear down procedure.

Ok, so I know it's been nearly 14 years since you posted this but thank you! It fixed my Apple Magic Mouse 2! Reconnecting the ribbon was a bit frustrating but after 5 minutes of trying using the tweezers from my iFixit kit I finally got it and now my mouse works perfectly! $99 saved!

You can achieve the same result also without breaking nothing. You have only to raisen the black plastic parts a little bit and extract the ribbon cable:
