Why can't I get the console to power on?

I can get the fans to come on but nothing else will work on my Xbox 360. What could be causing this and how can I fix this. I have already made another power supply using an old computers power supply because I couldn't get the power brick to power on my console.

What was the color of the power light on the original OEM Power Supply? I also don't recommend trying to use power supplies not original designed for the Xbox 360.
