If I buy the 256GB flash only, can I install a HD?

If I buy the flash-only option, is there still a SATA connection available to install a hard drive as shown in:

Almost! You'll need a few pieces as Apple doesn't install the needed cable and mounting screws. The logic board has the needed connections.

Frankly, I would get the model that meets your needs Vs trying to upgrade this system. This is not an easy system to open and if you mess up the display assembly is quite expensive!
