Help! Poor Uni student can't find a replacement wire!

Hi, I'm a student at Falmouth University studying Digital Games Animation. I'm fascinated with the Kinect and i can't wait to start using it for some small animation projects..... However, after buying one on eBay knowing it was broken for £20!! I thought it would be a nice easy fix soldering the dog chewed wire.. This has not been the case and has actually been a pain! I was wondering if this wire can be replaced as I can't seem to find one anywhere with the same special Kinect connector.. The wire is currently in two and after three attempts of connecting it together, I'm Starting to think this was a waste of time but I really hope not as this would really help me to learn motion capture and make me want to start rigging characters much more accurately so I can get some nice results. Thank you for any replies, I will apreticate it!

@padfield , what made this "after three attempts of connecting it together," a failure? Where is the trouble with that? Where on the length of the cable is it tore in two?

by

Yes I have attempted to solder the cable back together however there is 13 wires inside, I don't think my soldering skills are that up to scratch, the cable is torn pretty much in the middle of the two connectors. Is there a diagram of the wires that need to go back together inside, as I feel like maybe I have missed some. Is there no replacement wire for the Kinect?

by

Are you sure there's 13 wires? I thought there was only 8/9 inside it.

This is for the Xbox kinect v2, I think the old one had that many? I'll try and re solder it today and see if I can get it working.

Hey. There are many training videos on the Internet, although of course, it is better for you to consult a specialist. It is very unpleasant when the computer brings you to the most inopportune moment. If you are worried about the exam, you are poorly prepared, or just want to tighten your knowledge. Of course, the best option would be to sit and prepare, but if you have little time or you have other priorities, you can visit Paperell. Our experts will do everything right. You can be sure.
