Logic board with heat dissipator already installed?

Should I need to un-mount heat dissipator, clean and re-apply thermal paste even is the replacement board already have everything mounted?

11'' Late 2010. It's part of the logic board repair guide to re-apply the thermal paste. Used logic boards are available with their heat sink mounted. Want to know if thermal paste degrade over time and so have to replace it before mounting.

It should already have thermo past installed. If you have some thermo past handy you could check.
