Why can't I defrag my iBook G4?

As a graphic designer I'm used to work with large files which I backup every time I finish a project. Usually I use iDefrag to defrag my iBook succesfully, but now it keeps giving me the folowing error:

Unable to open volume;HFS errors:

hfs_journal.c:92 (from 0x17318):

(12) The journal header seems incorrect

Is there any way to fix the problem?

Should I use another software?

Thanks and greetings!!

Sounds like you may have developed some bad blocks. I would backup what I could using Time Machine and reformat the drive using the write zero's option to spot the bad blocks and isolate them. I use TechTools Pro for defraging files and optimizing the volume: http://www.micromat.com/

Hope this solves your problem.

The chances are more to have bad blocks in drive. In such situations, one should first repair the files with disk utility or any other application. After the fix if you are getting the same error then try other tool for defragmenting Mac.
