Do I need to take my car to a mechanic?

2008 Ford Fusion I4 - So i was just changing the spark plug on my car and one broke while it was inside but only the ceramic pieces of it went in further down, i was able to take out the whole spark plug just not the pieces? can it cause major damage? and if so is there a way to take them out?

@ultron did the pieces fall into the whole where the spark plug screws into the cylinder head? If so then yes that spells trouble. If not, then you will not have to worry about it since those pieces will not cause any harm on the outside of the cylinder head.

yea the pieces fell below where you screw in the spark plug, what would happen to the ceramic pieces inside the cylinder head? or the car if i started it?

The ceramic pieces will score your cylinder wall, ruin your piston,your valves as well ruining the head. you sure they fell in there. The plug usually breaks with the metal piece still in the cylinder head. So it should have prevented the pieces from falling in.
