Why won't my mouse connect? Is my USB port broken?

My mouse won't connect to my laptop. usually when I connect it, it turns on and shows a red light under it but now it turns on for a few seconds then turns off. Usually whenever I plug it in, the laptop makes a sound whenever there's a USB plugged in and I can move my mouse pointer anywhere, now it still makes the sound but I cannot move my mouse pointer.

I tried every single USB port and it still doesn't work, this is driving me crazy.

It also doesn't read my USB whenever I tried to transfer files to it, I plug it in but it doesn't read it

It always say "USB not recognized"
