Why the screen is staying black?

I opened the laptop because i was thinking of doing an upgrade and I wanted to see where the hard disk was.I unplugged the hard disk and then put it all back together.I turned on the power but the screen is black and nothing happens.The indicator lights work, the fan works,the hard disk was making noise but i don't get anything.I unplugged the hard disk and still nothing.I also tried to connect the laptop with a screen but didn't work,although i m not sure if just by connecting it I should have seen something.Any ideas?

Check your ram that it didn't get dislodged. You may also want to recheck your sata connector at the HD . You may also want to do a static discharge in case you shocked the MB. It could be a problem with static discharge , if so do the following.

1. Disconect the power cord

2. Remove the battery

3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds , then release for 30 sec and then hold down for another 30sec

4. Plug in power ,replace battery and power on laptop.

If this causes no Joy try this.

Remove memory and reinstall one stick at a time, if there are more than 1 dimm of ram, try each stick in each slot one at a time to see if the memory is ok and to determine if one of the memory slots is bad.
