Laptop won't charge battery

The 1.67 GHz laptop won't charge the battery. The computer will turn on when plugged in but the indicator will show "Battery not charging" I have tried another batttery and charger so I've ruled that out. The only thing I can think of is that the power cable from the board to the battery went bad or got bumped out of place. Any one have any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi! There's a chance that the cable you mentioned is faulty, but if you're 100% sure the battery you are testing is good, it's likely the DC-in module in the computer that is bad. This piece of hardware controls power-related functions. Here's one for the A1138 PowerBook 15" 1.67GHZ machine (you'll want to verify your model number and look it up in the iFixit parts store to make sure to get the right part):

It's not an easy repair, but it's do-able, and there is an iFixit guide to walk you through the process.

Sounds like you need to replace the battery- they get old. How old is it?
