Home button not working after iPhone disassembly

ok, so I just replaced my glass and digitizer, which all went perfectly. However, I think I may have damaged the contact between the top part and the internal parts where the signal from the 'home' button at the bottom is carried. I've poked at the connectors a bit, but they seem ok, but still nothing when I press the home button.

If anyone could post a picture of what the connectors are meant to look like, this would be a huge help. Below is what mine is like right now. Sorry if it's not particularly clear, no macro.

great pics! looks like theres a fair amount of dust floating around your connectors-try cleaning with a soft brush and some isopropyl alcohol (or with out) to just check that isn't the reason for no contact. the pins themselves look fine. if the cleaning doesn't work you could try lifting the pins a little (gently they snap really easily)don't forget to clean the top of dock connector

Thanks for that. I'm having a bit of trouble working out which connectors on the base section it actually connects to. Is it the flat gold plates? Or the silver blobs?

Do I need to worry about shorting anything with alcohol or does it not conduct?

it's the silver blobs. as long as you leave the alcohol to dry completely (much the same as water) you should be fine. leave it overnight to be sure.

pollytintip, that is not correct. the contacts on the screen side touch down on the GOLD contacts, not the silver blobs.

I had the same issue when my Home button stopped working after disassembly. I needed to bend the silver strips on the screen side a little and also put a rolled up piece of paper towel behind the bent contacts to ensure contact with the Gold ones on the bottom. Now my home button works correctly again
