green light blinks then stays steady for a few seconds

I have a Sylvania 37in. Flat screen TV but when I press the power button to turn it on the green light blinks then stays steady for a few seconds the words Digital TV appear in bottom right corner while a channel number appears at same time in top right corner all for about 2seconds and it shuts off would anyone know why this is happening.Th.
