lcd screen replacement or just glass?
how do i know if i just need the glass front panel or if i need the whole lcd digitizer thing?

If you only have a cracked screen and the iPhone turns on and is still functional you only need glass only repair. But if the phone screen is black and none functional then you need to replace the whole screen assembly.

Look at one of the end sides of the phone and if you can see approx 1 millimeter of glass in thickness this is the glass protector alot of the phone companies install to protect the digitizer. This will need to be removed to see if there is damage below the glass to determine if you need a new digitizer or just new piece of glass protector installed.
If there is no glass protector and the screen is cracked this would be the digitizer that needs to be replaced.
