My MacBook isnt turning on

Hi everyone,

i Have an Old mac book Pro which i bought in 2010 and has served me very well till date. For the past 6 months its not turning on when i press the power on button.

Prior to it going cold.. the charger always showed a orange light instead of the green one which is usually present when charging.

i have shown it to a number of apple guys and everone says that it requires the charging port which needs to be replaced but supposedly we cant get the parts.

i want to know is charging port the same as DC port and how can i fix my laptop.

If the light isn't making the change from green to orange, that means the Logic Board isn't getting the charging status from the battery itself. This could also be causing the lack of powering up. First bit of troubleshooting I would recommend is to open up the bottom and disconnect the battery cable from the logic board. Then plug the MagSafe adapter into the machine and attempt to power, if it powers and starts up that tells us it's the battery. In which case MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2009-Mid 2010) Battery

If it does not follow this next step: Keeping the batter disconnected, locate the keyboard ribbon cable and GENTLY disconnect it. Plug the MagSafe in (don't be alarmed as it should power itself up). If it does the there is is an issue with the keyboard (I've seen this odd situation time and time again).

Please remember to take all safety and ESD precautions before attempting anything you're not comfortable with! Let us know if either of these two things diagnose the issue, if not there is a bit more we can do to troubleshoot :)
