replace elastic for head and arms

My 60+ year old wooden Pinocchio has movable arms and head. The elastic has dried and failed. Now he has lost one arm and his head lolls drunkenly. How can I replace the hidden cords?

Henni, since I don't have a clue as to what they look like, I would advise taking it to a fabric/sewing store and ask a sewing expert. They probably have everything you need.
