Logic Board Replacement Information

Hello

I have a MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 running under i5.

My integrated GPU is faulty and I've recently replaced HDD for SSD and the optical drive became an HDD tray. So I don't want to buy a new laptop.

Can I upgrade my motherboard with the i7 of the same series, avaiable from ifixit webstore? Connectivity is the same I guess just the type of processor and GPU attached to the logic board.

Apple has an extended warranty for GPU issues. You should carefully put back your optical drive so you don't raise concerns for the missing drive. Then visit an Apple Store so you can get the logic board replaced for free!

As for doing it on your self: Sure you could upgrade the logic board to the i7 version in this series but it will be costly! I like free better :-)

Apple addressed some of the problem within hardware as well as some of the problem within the OS. I strongly recommend you run El Capitan.

Yes but the warranty is only for 15". Not my 13"

Yes I'm already running El Capitan.

Opps! I had 15" in my head, sorry :-{ You could still try getting Apple to fix it but it will likely cost you. I would look at the i7 board
