How to remove Cintiq Companion 2 anti-glare coating?

My Cintiq's screen comes with a really annoying textured anti-glare coating glued/fused to the glass, which adds a layer of noise to what should be a beautiful super hi-res screen. I want to peel it off. I searched around, and some people say they've been able to peel it off manually, by sheer force and patience. I don't know if I've had mine too long since it was manufactured (almost a year now), but the coating on the glass seems to be stuck on very tightly. I've tried to use my nails, followed by a sharp knife, to peel the corner of the coating back a little to give myself some leverage to pull, but the coating will only come off in tiny flakes. I can't lift it up. I have maybe 1 mm flaked off from the corner after 15 mins of work.

After more searching, I found random threads about people removing anti-glare coating from other displays (monitors), using tricks like laying wet paper towels on the screen for hours, or using various chemicals. Examples:

I'm not sure any of this stuff is safe to try on what essentially amounts to a large expensive tablet, not a simple monitor. Or is it? Any other ideas? Thanks.

Hah, never mind. I gently stuck an Xacto knife under a few of the corners, lifted them enough to get leverage, and pulled slowly. Came off clean! It's all about getting the corners lifted.

Jimbo, How does the screen compare with the film removed? I take it, is a much better improvement?

Thanks,

Jordan, the screen is gorgeous. Super hi-res. Of course, the pen nib is almost unusable against it. Feels really weird. I might get a 3rd party protector that isn't so grainy. The guy in this video says he ordered one from a company called Photodon (the exact type: MXH 25% antiglare), and he's really happy with the quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HQ-d0Xo...
