Network shows no connections available after reinstalling windows 7

I replaced my hard drive and installed windows 7 home premium. Now the network icon shows not connected and "No connections are available". When I push the radio key it goes from red to blue but the system thinks it is a bluetooth adapter (bluetooth icon shows up in the tray).

I opened the device manager and it only shows bluetooth under the network adapters. Under "Other devices" it shows 8 items with the yellow exclaimation: Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Controller, USB Controller, and 2 Unknown Devices.

Looks to me like I need some device drivers, right? If so how do I get them?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Yup you need the drivers!

Check HP's web sight for them. If they don't have them you should be able to find out what card is installed and get the drives strait from the manufactures web sight. (you'll need another computer of course)

You can try a Ethernet cable strait to your router and see if it lets you connect Windows generic drives usually allow you to use the Ethernet card that way.

I found the drivers on the HP site - however there are 6 drivers listed for networking. It looks like they are hardware specific. I'm guessing I have to pull the laptop apart and find the manufacture?

you shouldn't need to pull it apart, just use a generic driver to start with to get connectivity, maybe some trial and error is required here, and then the computer should sort itself out after. If you install the wrong driver it's not the end of the world just uninstall and try another.
