My dryer won't start
the control panel works but when i hold start it beeps and shuts off. it also has a bad smell

Unplug it for 5 minutes to allow it to reset. Check the lint trap and see how it smells. What kind of smell? Musty, rotten, dead?

It's a burnt gassy smell. It's an electric dryer so I know it's not a gas leak.
