You need your serial number and follow the directions in the link.

On most computers with Mac OS X, you can find the serial number in the About This Mac .

Hey Terry,

Go to Apple Logo on the top-left corner, click on "About This Mac" and the MacBook Model/Year should be listed right below the OS X Version.
