My 2011 iMac I5 8gb ram 1 TB HHD wont turn on

After shutting down my IMAC it will not turn on . It take some hours and a little bit of patience to turn on again. Changed the power supply but keep doing the same thing. When on it works perfectly.What is going wrong?
