I do not get sound after the mail received

After switching over to EL CAPITAN my mail box is in the dumb mode after the receipt the mail,my settings clearly denotes sound and that prompt is also activated..EL CAPITAN does not have this option? please guide . later I checked in the macforum it also says this problem is yet to be addressed.Thank you NARAYAN LAKSHMANAN INDIA
