Water damage: won't connect to mobile network

My samsung galaxy s6 fell in the sink and spent 1-2 seconds submerged. Everything works fine on the phone EXCEPT it won't connect to the Verizon network. I already brought it to a tech who says he checked the antenna and cleaned up the sim card port. I also tried a factory reset and it still won't work. Any ideas?

Options

Try replacing the motherboard, or the simcard tray.
