replaced screen - touch id problem and won't update

I just replaced the screen on my iphone 6 with the ifixit part and repair kit. Moved the home button from the old screen to the new one as recommended. Everything went fine and seems to be working normally... except now touch ID doesn't work and the device won't update to the latest iOS 9.1. Should I open it back up and check the cables? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Pretty sure this was just a faulty display assembly. After thinking I had bricked the phone with an error 53, I put it back together with the old shattered display (moving the original home button back again) and it restored and updated from iTunes. Sigh of relief. Called iFixit for a new display, no problem, very helpful, said an new one will be going out in the mail.

Did turn out to be a bad cable in the replacement display. iFixit shipped a new part right away without any troubles -- put new one in and all is good. Thanks iFixit!

If the original home button still works you need to put it back in if you want to use touch ID, apple has it so that only the original home button or one that they put in themselves will work with touch ID. any new home button will not work

Thanks for the quick reply. I did just that - removed the home button from the old screen and installed it in the new screen. Any help is appreciated!
