Transferred recipes from Word to desktop folder. "Won't recognize"

I have an older Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. I had several recipes in Word and transferred them to a desktop folder by dragging. Now each is listed in the folder along with an alias. When I try to open any of them it says "Original Document cannot be located" Same thing if I try to drag them back into word.

Sounds like you are trying to open an alias not the document. Copy the document, then move it.

Restart your Macbook and try to open the files directly within Word. Use the original source files instead of dragging them.
