Upgrade to el capitan failed -- SSD failure reported by Apply Store

Dear All

I tried upgrading my Macbook Air (128 GB SSD - 2014) to el capitan from yosemite. All went well. In the final step it asked me to restart. I tried restarting my laptop, after that it didn't came up.

Went to apple store, they diagnosed the problem and told me that SSD failed. replacement cost 900USD.

I really doubt just OS upgrade can cause SSD failure? Please help.
