Internet is behaving oddly- apps needing internet won't work

My Acer aspire zc-606 is behaving very oddly. Chrome and Firefox won't work (Internet explorer is working). If I call on skype, apparently there's an internet connection problem between me and the other person and IMs won't be sent. Multiplayer servers on Minecraft won't load and singleplayer crashes the game, and another game I have has a connection issue. On other devices the internet is working fine, it's just that computer. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Also, the computer is running Windows 8.1 and it seems like it's connected to the internet.

Do you have an outdated version of McAfee if so Remove it or update it . Anti virus programs want you to be safe on the internet so if you don't pay you cant play. When you remove it make sure to use a program that gets it all cause it leaves nasty stuff behind if you use the uninstaller provided by McAfee . Programs like revo uninstaller work well to remove it

I recently renewed the subscription, but I'm not sure if McAfee is up to date. I'll check tomorrow and let you know.

Okay, sorry I'm late, I forgot about this. McAfee didn't open at all, so what do I do?

Try reinstalling the program if you just renewed the service you should be able to reinstall and be recognized
