Screen Backlight behaving strangely after minor soda spill?

I spilled soda on my macbook pro 13" late 2013. The screen backlight started to acts nuts, It decides to turn on and off by itself. Most often, however, it is not working- But when it turns on, it stays on until I close the lid or restart the device. I have no Idea how to fix it myself. Also, in my country no one is using or fixing Macs, so can't get some one to fix it.

What do you think the issue is knowing that its been 5 months and no improvement.

P.S. Apple says you need everything new inside the macbook pro(That when I was abroad ). The repair price is close to a brand new one. I have been using it connected to a monitor for the the time the screen backlight is off and when it gets resurrected I use it as normal laptop with a shiny retina screen.

Hi there, Sounds like the backlight has been damaged. It is located under the keyboard and can be replaced with out having to remove the keyboard. It is quite a technical repair though requiring you to remove the motherboard. The part is not to expensive to buy, just requires a bit of computer dismantling knowledge.

Good Luck

My issue is the screen backlight not the keyboard. If you got it right, what exactly does it look like in order to change it and get the screen lights to work.

Have you tried disassembling it, drying it out, and cleaning up the dried soda/syrup? I'm thinking the culprit might be an intermittent short occurring.

I think there's corrosion on the lcd board you will need to remove the clutch cover to expose it.
