no video on replacement display clamshell

I have a MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015.

I replaced the display with another unit. When i turn the unit on and the lid is open , i get no video on the screen and the apple logo on the back is dark. If i close the lid - the Apple logo lights up. When i open it up, there is video on the screen.

When i shut down, i must repeat the process.

Even resetting power manager and PRAM has no effect.

If i install a new SSD and format it, the problem goes away and the unit functions as normal. For some reason it just won't work with my original SSD.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a software issue,

I would try to backup with Time Machine, install clean OS and restore from your backup.
