The Power button doesn't work or is broken

The power button (located on the right hand side) can be pressed down, and the tactile feedback can be felt. However this does not turn on the handset. When a hard reset is done (by removing the battery and placing it back) the phone starts for the first few seconds (showing the Samsung logo) and then proceeds to shut back down.

Problem has occurred before after dropping the phone, but hasn't come back until now.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi there, it sounds like you may have damaged the power button when it was dropped. Its a pain to repair as its soldered to the logic board. Maybe try open up the phone (guides can be found on youtube) and see if the soldered connections are wiggling around.

Good Luck

Soldering a new power button is easy. I suggest you get on yelp find a local android repair store and ask if they can fix it. Should be around $20-30 depending on state. Turn around 30-60 minutes.
