Why can't I type messages or use any of the keypad buttons?

My phone works and I can use the touchscreen but when I try to send a message I am unable to type anything. The keypad is sporadic and sometimes will work when I press buttons and other times no matter what I press nothing shows up.

Options

Try cleaning the keys. It might be the case that your keyboard is sticky and the bottom will not work.

If this is not the case, try turning off the phone and restarting it. Sometimes a device just need to be rebooted.

If this doesn't work follow the replacement guide for the keyboard.
