Change Fight Pad Artwork

I would like to know if it's possible to customize the art/picture on the front case of this (or any) fight pad controller. I would also like a step by step tutorial if it can be done.

So is the picture actually painted on front case itself, or is there a piece of paper within the front case that can be removed/replaced?
