Upgrade SSD on the principal drive space

Hi!

I'm planning to upgrade my 500 GB HDD to a 256 GB SSD.

I want to know if I can place the SSD on the main drive area (aside of the battery) and NOT on the optical drive area.

I want to move the 500 GB HDD to the optical drive space and place the 256 GB SSD where the HDD was placed before.

Don't know if I explained myself. Thanks.

Of course you can do that.I have a unibody MacBook Pro (mid 2012) I changed its slow 5400 rpm HDD to a Samsung EVO 850 series 256GB SSD.

It works like a charm!

Just check if the new drive is a 2.5" one and preferably a 6Gb/s for optimal performance.

That's the way to do it. Just don't get a real cheap SSD, you get what you pay for.
