Why can't I transfer from External HD to Mac?

Hello. My Macbook Pro Mid 2012 13" can’t read my files from my external hard drive (WD My Passport Ultra 1TB) neither can I transfer from external to Mac. I’ll attach here the message from the laptop when I try to open it. The format is on MAC Extended (Journaled). I opened the external using TransMac from Windows 3 days ago but I really did not open any of the files I just checked if they are still in the external. D:

Here's the link for the "message" https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1sB4SP...

The format orientation must have been altered wen u connected wt a Windows PC. The best format that works for Windows and Mac is "ex-fat" u may try a recovery software to recover ur files if u need them so badly, then u should reformat the external disk to "ex-fat" before using on Windows or Mac

The problem is the format .You must reformat the HD to “exfat” before using it on Mac. However to recover any important files before formatting your HD, take the help of a file recovery software.
