Where is a fuse for ignition

I have bare wires on the light that shorted out the motor when Iturned the switch on

Have you traced the wires yet? The fuse is most likely an inline fuse. Take plenty of pictures of the wiring, post those with your question. Also, you will have to post the model number for your mower.
