Hi,

Check that the batteries are in the correct way, also try a set of batteries out of another working remote.

You can test a remote control using a digital camera, even the camera in a mobile phone will do.

Turn on the camera so that you can see the remote in the display screen. Face the remote towards the camera and press any button on the remote. You should see in the display screen a light appear at the end of the remote. The light will appear with any button being pressed on the remote. Check the Power ON button as this get used the most. (try another remote that you know works so that you can "see" in the camera what it is like when it works)

If no light appears when only some of the buttons are pressed but it works on others it means that the contact material under the button has either become oxidized or worn away. Here is a link which shows you what to do to fix it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVr8eLW0...

If no light appears when you have tried ALL the buttons, and as you have replaced the batteries, make sure that the battery connection terminal in the remote are clean and bright and that the batteries are held "snugly" in position not loose. If all OK then the remote is faulty. You can purchase a universal remote which should get you out of trouble.

Thank you!

“If no light appears when you have tried ALL the buttons, and as you have replaced the batteries, make sure that the battery connection terminal in the remote are clean and bright “

This part helped me fix the problem!

I thought of everything except the battery connection terminal! One of it had crusts on it just enough to fill the circle and after removing that, my remote was good as new!

Hi @Peter Summers

I don't know iPhones but yours doesn't have an IR filter in the camera by any chance?

According to this it might have, as this link is for an iPhone 4 so maybe it was kept for newer models as well

This will block the IR signal. You may have to try another camera

I certainly don't have any trouble when doing this on two different Android phones.

What is the problem that you needed to test the remote?
